As a young lad, I loved tinkering around with Dad’s tools making stuff in the garage, or building tree huts down by the Halswell River. When a friend’s dad offered me a labouring job in his construction company, I gladly accepted. It was a great introduction to building; it trained me physically and taught me the building basics.
It also cemented my passion for building. From here, I moved into housing construction, focussing my apprenticeship on architectural hill sites. I loved the challenge this brought, and I was in awe of the knowledge and skills the carpenters I was learning from had.
