Strong and Prominent

Wild Exposure

This project started from a bare paddock on a heritage farm near Mt Kakapuku, with the landscaping underway well before the house construction.

The design was evolved around the architectural building plans and involved hundreds of massive feature rocks sourced off the nearby mountain, riverstone walling, an extensive natural style stream, waterfall, pond and swimming pool.

The property has been planted in almost totally natives, and this was a unique project for Wild Exposure in that we have been involved progressively from innovation through to various ongoing developments with maintenance and upgrading over an 18 year period.

We are an iconic Waikato based landscape company that is renowned for adventurous landscape creations. Our multi-award winning designs create landmark gardens that are easily recognised as a unique style.

Our installations are based on design elements that have been developed and refined for almost 30 years, these elements are pieced together to create a heritage garden.

Our design ethos of manipulating nature into human lifestyles gives timeless enduring and functional landscapes.

As well as offering a full landscape design and architecture service, Gary and Henriette Bjerring along with their team, provide planning and design of outdoor areas, landmarks and structures within urban, rural, residential and public landscapes, with a passion to conserve and manage natural heritage and urban landscapes.

Wild Exposure is also synonymous with water features; from Japanese style water basins to small lakes, with a particular affinity to flowing waters in the form of falls, cascades and streams and the perceptive use of rocks and stones to form them.

Having constructed literally hundreds of water features of all scales, places us at the forefront of this landscape art form.

Rock features are a prominent feature of their installations – from 12 tonne boulders to river gravel, most of our stone is left as found at its natural source, be it a riverbed, beach or remote farm, and are all sourced under regulatory consents.

We contract master stonemasons to install paving, walling, stairways, stepping stones, pillars and monoliths.
