Sheer Heaven

Brackenridge Builders

Nothing has been spared in this luxurious beach house at Omaha by Brackenridge Builders, that embraces pure indulgence on all levels.

From the in-house cinema completely soundproofed and featuring leather tiered seating, to the elaborate wine library and opulent outdoor pool, this weekend retreat has it all.

Design Point Architecture set the scene and created a home away from home that challenged the builders on every level, on one of the most elevated sites of this seaside village.

Managing director Tony Borich said the brief from the owners was for solid concrete construction in keeping with the masonry theme they had previously used on another property.

The sloping site was extremely complex and a lot of retaining work had to be completed first, before the large precast concrete panels were craned into place.

“Logistically it was very difficult.”

The home exudes elegance and sophistication and the challenge to make that happen was well worth it.    Architectural masterpieces are what Brackenridge Builders specialise in, and nothing worthwhile was ever easy.

The entrance area is a real talking point with its secret Trillium pivot door – a collaboration between the owners and the architect.

“They wanted to make a statement with the front door area and played around with it for quite awhile to make it work.”

Step inside to find an impressive solid staircase structure with a hot rolled steel balustrade that has been turret punched for extra special effect.

European designer lightware sets off the staircase beautifully, and this theme features right throughout the home in key areas such as the kitchen, dining area, hallway and bathroom.

American Oak flooring adds warmth, along with the timber overlays onto the concrete tilt panels – to soften the appearance but also give it a more natural look.

In other areas recessed strip LED lighting are carefully positioned into the ceiling, and in the lounge another special hidden feature are the speakers in the roof.

To top it all off, the home is completely off-grid with solar panels and fully automated, right through to the drop down television.

“They have gone really high spec and high tech, and the cabling and wiring to make this happen was a project in itself.”

Tony said the challenge to set all of these features into the house the make the services work was immense, but the result was extremely satisfying.
