G Donaldson Builders

This stunning home in Pine Harbour has a modern theme with a rustic twist and has been fitted out with high-end materials both inside and out.

Built by G Donaldson Builders, this project was our first entry in the Registered Master Builders House of the Year awards, and custom-built houses with individuality are our specialty.

Owner/builder Gary Donaldson is working on building up his company to become more of a household name in the industry, and he thrives on complex projects that stimulate his whole team.

For this 278sq m build, the house is split into two wings – one for the living area and kitchen, and the other for the bedrooms, bathrooms upstairs and the garage below the Master bedroom. Cathedral ceilings are used to create a spacious feeling, with large panes of glass in an array of different geometric shapes giving this house a new look from every different angle.

The entire house is clad with a combination of natural and stained black cedar, and a lot of care and detail has gone into the front of the house, including the “Rolls Royce” garage door.

There was no scrimping on quality here – from the boardwalk entrance leading to the front door, we have used high quality 32mm Vitex hardwood decking with an attractive pale yellow to creamy grey colouring, and jet black edging and soft garden boxes on the sides with lighting – to really make this area stand out when you enter the property.

With the entrance way being in the middle of the house leading to an open stairwell, the owners wanted to achieve instant impact when people walk in.

As you step through the jet black aluminium Parkwood front door you are greeted with a custom steel fabricated staircase, designed and constructed by G Donaldson Builders and the team, with solid American oak treads and custom havelock slated balustrades and handrail.

Inside this beautiful home you will find more high-end features including sharp louvered windows, American Oak flooring, and an engineered stone bench top in the kitchen.

The house is finished with black and gold themed tapware throughout the kitchen and bathrooms to give it that final taste of luxury.
