A significant renovation of this 1960s home by Fairburn Builders earned the company huge accolades at the Registered Master Builder of the Year awards 2021.
With magnificent views of Tauranga’s harbour and looking out to Mount Maunganui, the renovation consisted of an entire reclad, new joinery, kitchen, bathroom and ensuite, interior plaster and paint, as well as flooring.
The north elevation overlooking the water was transformed to encompass and frame the stunning view. The original small windows were replaced by a large slider door. The roof at one end of the house was gabled, creating a smooth flow from the indoor dining area to a large covered alfresco.
The subtle colour scheme allowed for luxurious furnishings and fixtures. This house is modern and elegant, and one we are very proud of.
As well as making the Top 100 nationally, we also received a Gold Award and picked up the Regional Category Winner for Bay of Plenty House of the Year 2021 (Renovation $500,000 – $1,000,000) category.
When our clients engaged us to undertake the renovation, we talked about what the main purpose was, with the outside of the house being tired and in need of a spruce up.
Their vision was focused around the view towards the Tauranga harbour – the ocean side of the property, while maximising the house’s position to its full potential.
The front of the house needed some serious changes to make it look modern, and at the same time, an outdoor covered living area that did justice to the property.
We tackled the garage configuration with the tight drive way and the entry needing to be a welcoming area that pulled you into the house.
The shape of the house and proximity to the boundary had its challenges, and it is not until you walk into the home and see the view, that you really appreciate what it has to offer.
