Idyllic Haven

Hill Homes

Hill Homes made such a great job of this Cambridge home, that its Registered Master Builders House of the Year Lifestyle award and Top 100 was well deserved. Chris and Rachel Hill got a massive surprise when they received Gold as it was the first time entering the awards.

“Chris has worked so hard to get to where he is with no recognition, and now his work is finally showing how great his skills and knowledge are.”

The 285sqm brick and cedar home has lifestyle written all over it, with the pool area and outside shower making it the perfect retreat. The kitchen was installed by Tree Town Kitchens, with plenty of shelving and cupboard space leading into the scullery, while a server leads out onto the deck for entertaining guests.

The only thing missing from this oasis are the palm trees. Everything about the flow of the house is very relaxed, and the way the indoor outdoor areas seamlessly merge. A cedar feature wall in the lounge is a nice way to bring the outside in. The main bathroom features a honeycomb feature wall and is finished with brass tapware, creating a down-to-earth feeling for this busy young family.

Separate spaces within the living areas have allowed for a children’s playroom and a reading nook and library. This architectural pavilion-style house has been built with comfort in mind, with all of the solid features perfectly contrasted with earthy colours for the right ambience. The large painted brick fireplace and columns dominate the outside area, while strong colours and feature walls set the tone inside. And there are no shortage of places to lounge around, with an abundance of cushions too.

It’s hard to believe this space is a family’s everyday home and not their holiday home. Hill Homes can create your dream home too, and post-Covid the company has been really busy, “with people not stopping at building homes,” Rachel said. New homes and renovations are their speciality, and they have years of experience making clients happy around Cambridge.
