HouseIt was developed by experienced builders Alan Hockey and Giles Bayley, providing affordable, fully insulated accommodation solutions that can be transported to your site. Based in Te Awamutu, our homes and studio units are ideal for when extended family come to stay, they can be used for worker accommodation on farms and orchards, and also as the perfect beach house.
Starting out in 2013, we researched building systems and products overseas to find the best and most economic materials to build with.
Taking three years to develop a fully patented system that is gaining recognition throughout Australasia, our completely self-contained buildings are virtually 0% maintenance and the best part is they can also be relocatable. The insulation levels of our homes are over and above New Zealand standards with a six-star rating, and our company is also accommodating to everybody’s needs, including modifying the houses to be wheelchair-friendly.
Another point of difference we have is, that our homes are non-porous so they can be washed down easily between tenants, giving you a clean, mould and mildew-free environment to work with.
We use PIR panel (Polyisocyanurate) which is fire and water resistant and has outstanding thermal performance, giving our homes optimum levels of energy efficiency, and most importantly for tenants, a significant reduction in energy costs. We can also proudly say our homes are more environmentally friendly than the standard home, with each one producing only 1 cubic metre of waste per 60 square metre house.
Most standard builds produce two to three 9 cubic metre bins of construction waste. Built with galvanised steel panels and wooden floors, and insulated with the PIR panels, our houses can be built in just 30 days, with current demand seeing our company expand nationwide to meet the current shortage. The houses come completely fitted out with kitchen, bathroom, floor covering, curtains and appliances ready for you to move in.
HouseIt is currently talking with local iwi and Government organisations to provide immediate housing and accommodation solutions for various communities in New Zealand. We’ve even gone one step further with branching out into sheds as well, with our ShedIt business.
