With fabulous views over Gisborne and Poverty Bay, DStevens won a national category award for this ‘Fab One’ home in 2021.
Judges of the Registered Master Builders House of the Year awards said the hilltop views are a real standout of this well-located and functional home.
It has been built with a 45sqm footprint and is two storeys. This layout gave the builder the ability to create a double-height living space, which has resulted in amazing light and great ventilation.
To ensure a warm and peaceful home, extra high insulation levels have been incorporated into the walls and rafters. The skilfully fitted vertical weatherboards add real personality to this home.
The Gisborne-based company is incredibly proud to showcase its enduring commitment to creating high-quality spaces and places alongside New Zealand’s top residential builds.
For this national award-winning build, the company prefabricated the two 45sqm sections at its workshop, then transported and craned it into place.
The builders went to work crafting the ply-lined interior and cladding the home in sustainably sourced timber. The largest in an architecturally designed series of homes, ‘Fab One’ has a double-height living-dining area and media corner on the ground floor.
The kitchen is cleverly tucked beneath and behind the stairs, which lead to two double bedrooms and a bathroom – all with views. This simply sublime dwelling sits easily in its landscape and is built from readily available, low-treated timber framing.
A thick external envelope with R4.0 insulation and double-glazed aluminium windows and doors keep things warm. Glass louvres provide ventilation.
