Dan Anderson Building

It has been a great few years for Dan Anderson Builders with a Top 100 placing in 2018, and the Nelson Regional Supreme Renovation of the Year, followed by another regional category win in 2019.

The new build of this modern Nelson home started with the demolition of their existing house, and gave the owners 270-degree views.

Spread over three levels, the multi-faceted design enjoys incredible solar gain. Expansive windows embrace the outlook to the estuary, ocean and mountains.

Extruded powder coated aluminium cladding to the upper levels, and concrete block cladding to the ground floor, lend the design a sense of permanence.

Guests are spoilt in the self-contained apartment, which shares the ground floor with the internal garage, and a lift and stairs connect the levels.

The mid-floor features a light-filled main entry, which flows past the office, extra guest bedroom and bathroom to the gorgeous main living area. Natural timber finishes and an efficient fireplace add warmth and ambience.

Ultimate luxury awaits in the peaceful master retreat – the home’s crowning glory on the top floor. This sanctuary of everyday opulence offers a great spot to watch the sunrise over those panoramic ocean views.

With Dan Anderson’s extensive renovation in 2018, a three-level holiday home has been completely transformed into a chalet-like haven.

Opened up to create a flowing kitchen/living/dining area, the first floor is now a lively entertaining hub. A fitting addition, the feature wood-burning fireplace helps the home stay toasty.

Downstairs, a self-contained two-bedroom apartment replaces the home’s original garage, making for a wonderful retreat for couples, guests or wider family.

The upper level has been generously extended to accommodate the master suite and two private deck areas with water views.

While existing flooring and exterior framing were retained to preserve the home’s original character, structural steel beams and posts were installed to support cantilevered decking.

All three levels of this large home now have decks, allowing the owners to delight in the great outdoors in covered comfort at the height of their choosing.
