Builder Matt Saathof has been in the construction industry for over 15 years, after completing his apprenticeship with a well renowned building company in the Hawkes Bay. He was awarded Apprentice of the Year in his region and second in the Nationals and has developed diverse skills within the industry.
Prior to owning his own business in Mt Maunganui, he was building multi-million-dollar homes and commercial developments, and also spent two years in Papa New Guinea and Fiji building a missionary complex and the International Fijian Airport upgrade. It was here that he developed his project and team management skills, and in 2016 he made the strategic decision to start Totara Construction – the name reflective of the beautiful native wood that New Zealand forests provide.
Matt has since added a Double Diploma in Construction Management and Quantity Surveying to his building expertise, and along with Grace, an interior designer, have now developed a strong team unit. They will work with you to help you achieve your dream home and pride themselves on building high quality houses that stand the test of time.
Totara Construction utilises progressive building methods and innovative design methodologies to guarantee your investment is durable,
practical and visually appealing. Additionally, they work in conjunction with only the best sub-contractors which they have sourced and personally guarantee to ensure their clients are provided with the highest quality end product.
Their subcontractors are forward thinking, likeminded professionals who share the same vision of excellence and commitment to quality craftsmanship. “When we build we use only proven construction methods and quality materials sourced and guaranteed by us.
We take a genuine interest in our client’s individuality and work with experience to successfully integrate this into each project. This ensures our end product is a reflection of your vision and brief.”
