Demanding attention, this elevated Morrinsville home debuts a variety of cladding systems that cleverly enhance the overall design of the house.
The impressive entrance has a wood-look BGC cladding feature wall, that stretches the full height of the home, flowing into the interior and creating a statement before you walk through the door. Within the home, functional spaces are split within three levels, that seamlessly nestle into each other.
Built by Daven Homes, owner Sandra Davenport said this was one of many family projects that she and her daughter Michelle, owner of Footprint Draughting, have worked on. Sandra said she really enjoyed being able to design the home with Michelle from scratch, and the elevated site meant it was no straightforward project.
The elevated site had to be thoroughly excavated before the floor slabs could even be laid, and there was a huge amount of retaining work that needed to be done to stabilise the site. Despite the challenges around every corner, they worked naturally and easily together, to create a stunning home that showcases their combined flair for design.
“It was nice to be able to visualize seeing it come together.” Excavation was important to the split-level design, and allowed space for a 56sqm concrete block basement. The second level consists of the living areas, kitchen, scullery, dining area, main bathroom and laundry, and the third level has three bedrooms and an ensuite. From the upper two levels, this 204sqm home overlooks Mt Kuranui, and the Te Arohamountain ranges.
The exterior of these levels are made of block, clay bricks and linea weatherboards which complement the layering of the house.
Inside the home, tasteful natural wool carpets have been used throughout the living areas, bedrooms and stairwell, accompanied by vinyl in wet areas, (laundry and bathroom included), and large luxurious tiles in the entrance.
The waterfall kitchen bench is engineered stone and the Melteca cabinetry is fitted with soft closing blum hinged hardware and door mounts. Company owner Warren Davenport has solidly been working as a builder since starting his apprenticeship at the age of just 17.
